BATTLE AT THE BEACH PWSA TOURNAMENT U13
June 9-11, 2023
1. Softball Canada rules: The softball Canada Rules shall be used in all Divisions except where they are amended, deleted or added to by the Operationg rules of the SSMBA.
2. Teams must check in 1 hour before their first game and be ready to play 20 minutes before the scheduled game time.
3. Home team will be a coin toss which will be called by the team travelling the furthest distance. This will be overseen by the SSMBA representative/designated person.
4. The home team will be the official scorekeeper. Both teams must agree on the final score and sign the score sheet at the completion of the game. Scores must be given to the SSMBA representative or designated person by the home team at the end of each game.
5. The official start time will be confirmed by the home plate umpire at the time of the first pitch. The home team will document the start time on the score sheet.
6. There will be no infield practice on the diamonds in fair territory.
7. Round Robin game length will be a regulation seven innings with the following exception.
No new inning will start after 1 hour and 45 minutes. Home team will not bat if ahead after the time limit expires. No new inning may be started after the time limit. Should there be a tie game each team gets 1point. Mercy rule is in affect.
8. A player cannot play the same position more than four (4))innings per game
If the game goes to the International tie breaker the playing time will reset after (8) innings.
If the game goes to the International tie breaker, then it will be at the end of 7 innings or when the time limit is up.
Two points will be awarded for a win and one point for a tie.
9. Playoff/Championship game length will be a regulation seven innings. Mercy rule will apply. If tied at completion of game, international tie breaker rule will apply. 8th inning- last out of previous inning goes to second base. The batting order continues in rotation. This will continue until a winner is declared.
10.Mercy rule :
15 runs or more at the end of 3 innings (21/2 if home team)or any inning thereafter or
If ahead by 10 runs at the end of 5 innings or (41/2 if home team) or any inning thereafter, the game will be terminated.
If the home team leads after the top half of any such inning, the game shall be considered a mercy and the home team will not bat.
If any team is ahead by twenty five (25) or more runs after any complete inning(or half inning if home team the game will be terminated.
11. All players must bat and unlimited defensive substitutions will be allowed. A pitcher and a catcher may play only 4 innings per game in each of those poisitions. For interpretation purposes of this rule, an inning is defined as one pitch.
12. Tie breakers and the ranking of teams after the round robin games will be determined in the following order.
A) Winner of games between tied teams
B) Difference plus or minus of total runs scored with the limit of seven (7) plus or minus per game. Full innings only may be used.
C) Least runs allowed
D) Most runs scored
E) Coin toss
13. Protests will only be allowed if there is a discrepency in a rule call by the umpire.
14. No metal cleats are allowed
